Our History

The founding of Dance Incorporated by director Ellie Kueper started with two years of humble beginnings, teaching lessons in the basement of her Florissant home in 1966-67. Word spread and after much prodding from her growing student enrollment, the studio moved out of her basement into a one-room studio in Florissant. Ellie named the studio Fleur-de-lis Dance Academy, inspired by the Fleur-de-lis featured on the city of St. Louis flag.

In 1978 her family moved to West County. Ellie rented studio space in Castle Oak Health club, which has since been renamed Chesterfield Athletic Club. Again the studio outgrew its confines and in the fall of 1980 Dance Incorporated opened in the Maple Tree Shopping Center on the southeast
corner of Clarkson/Clayton Rd. Continued growth led to a move into the Clarkson/Clayton Center followed by yet another move to Ozark Trail Dr.

In 2006, to celebrate Ellie’s 40th anniversary, her daughters honored her by incorporating the Fleur-de-lis in the Dance Incorporated logo. As Ellie celebrates 50 years of realizing her dream, it had once again become apparent that additional space is needed. In the fall of 2016 Dance Incorporated opened its doors at its new home in Ellisville Square to better serve and accommodate our students.
